Tubes are customarily specified by their Outside Diameter (O.D.) and Wall Thickness (W.T), expressed either in Birmingham Wire Gauge (BWG) or in thousandths of an inch. Pipes are identified by Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) and schedule, while Tubes are specified by their Outside Diameter (O.D.) and Wall Thickness (W.T) in BWG or inches. Tubes are generally used in heat exchangers, boilers and instrumentation, while pipes are used for fluid transport.

BWG (Birmingham Wire Gauge) is a standard for measuring wall thickness of tubes. We supply tubes in BWG 12, 16, 18 and 20. Lower BWG number means thicker wall — BWG 12 is thicker than BWG 20.

We supply ASTM/ASME A213 & A269 grades including TP304, TP304L, TP310, TP316, TP316L, TP317, TP317L, TP321 and TP347 in both Seamless and ERW types.

Yes, all tubes are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 Mill Test Certificates including chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat number and test results as per applicable ASTM/ASME standards.

ASTM A213 covers seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy steel boiler, superheater, and heat exchanger tubes. ASTM A269 covers seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubing for general service and is used in a wider range of applications.
